A FIRE broke out at a Kidderminster house today with the cause a tumble dryer.
The fire started at the home on Wolverley Road at around 10.19am this morning (Tuesday December 20).
A tumble dryer set on fire in the garage.
Police closed off the road while emergency services dealt with the incident.
It has now reopened.
A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire Control said: "A casualty in their 80s suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by the ambulance service.
"They were conscious and breathing.
"A tumble dryer in the garage was on fire."
Two fire crews from Wyre Forest and one from Droitwich attended with firefighters using breathing apparatus to enter the property.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the fire service at 10.41am to a property fire on Wolverley Road, Kidderminster.
"A paramedic officer attended and assessed one patient who didn’t require hospital treatment and was discharged on scene."
The fire was put out by 11.15am with firefighters dampening down. The fire was contained to the garage.
