FLOOD barriers are up and Bewdley Bridge will be closed for three hours tonight (Monday January 9) to help alleviate flooding in the town.
Flood defence barriers were going up at Beale’s Corner this morning and the bridge over the River Severn will be closed from 7pm to “facilitate flood pump installation at Beale's Corner” – Worcestershire Highways and Travel confirmed on Twitter.
Access will be maintained, they added, and the Bewdley Bypass will be fully open with cars diverted along this route as river levels rise.
Bewdley town centre will be open for business as usual.

Water levels expected to peak at 3.4m to 3.7m at 1.30am on Tuesday January 10.
Bewdley Flood Group said on its Facebook page: “It currently doesn't look like this episode will cause any big headaches. The couple of days of heavy rain forecast this week, with the very unsettled and unpredictable weather may bring more episodes.”
