TRIBUTES have been paid to a Kidderminster Harriers legend who has died at the age of 85.
Stewart Logan passed away at his Stourport home with his family at his side on February 1 following a battle with cancer.
Between 1954 and 1970, the footballer progressed through the youth and reserve ranks and to the first team at the Harriers.
The club said he made the better part of 400 starts for the first team alone and scored three goals.
Including his time with the Harriers' youth team, he was the club's longest-serving player on record.
His nephew Andy Logan said his uncle taught him "the love of sport."
The 47-year-old said: "Nothing was too much trouble. From my point of view my whole life has been shaped by some of the lessons I've learned from my father and uncle".
He was one of five brothers and was born and bred at the British Sugar factory site in Kidderminster.
He was also a keen cricketer and a supporter of Kidderminster Cricket Club.
Paying tribute, Kidderminster Harriers said: "He attended matches at Aggborough season after season, and even celebrated his 85th birthday at our match against Darlington back in November.
"The club would like to pass its condolences to Stewart’s family, friends and loved ones".
A minute’s applause was held for Stewart prior to the Scarborough Athletic game earlier this month.
Kidderminster cricket club said: "Stewart will be remembered as great company, well respected and a thoroughly nice man. He will be sadly missed".
A funeral will be held for Stewart at Wyre Forest Crematorium on Friday, March 3 at 2.30pm.
The wake will be held at Aggborough Stadium following the service.
