TWO cheetahs who were suffering from kidney disease have been put to sleep at West Midland Safari Park.

The Bewdley attraction has announced the passing of two of its cheetahs, Zuri and Cody, who had a "strong bond" with their keepers.

In a statement, West Midland Safari Park, said: "They had both been suffering from kidney disease, which is a common ailment in older cheetah, and Cody had ongoing weakness in his hind legs.

"Although they had been coping until recently, over the past few weeks their quality of life had declined and we made the heartbreaking decision to humanely euthanise them.

"They had a strong bond with their keepers, and also with each other, and were often seen resting together on Cheetah Plains.

"They will be dearly missed by us all."
