A KIDDERMINSTER drinking spot is celebrating after receiving an award for 'Pub of the Year.'

Members of Wyre Forest Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) have selected Kidderminster micro-pub, The Bear and Wolf, to be their Gold Pub of the Year 2023.

Presenting the award to owner and manager Larni Moore on International Women’s Day, branch chairman, Rob Budworth praised the busy Worcester Street pub.

He said: “I’m pleased to present this well-earned award to the Bear and Wolf.

"It’s the second year in a row that they’ve won and they’ve only been going three years – what a fantastic achievement. Pub of the Year Gold Award 2023.

"They now go forward to be judged for the Worcestershire County round, and potentially national pub of the year – who knows?”

“And it is fitting that we make this award on International Women’s Day when we celebrate the achievements of women – in this case a manager and entrepreneur with drive and determination to make her vision a success.”

Larni Moore, in accepting the certificate, said: “I just want to thank everyone – our customers and our staff – for all the support.

"It’s incredible for us to do what we do, and if you all love it, that’s a bonus.”

Larni added that there are plans for a micro-brewery upstairs.

In the long term she would like to replicate the popular formula with similar micro-pubs in other towns.

Rob added: “Given the high quality of many pubs in Wyre Forest, there were several pubs in contention for CAMRA’s awards.

"The 2023 Silver Award went to The Anchor Inn at Caunsall and Bronze Award to The Black Star in Stourport.

“Congratulations to all three for their dedication to providing great beer and great service to their customers and communities.”
