PEOPLE are invited to try out the ancient art of West African drumming with a workshop near Bewdley.
The workshop is being staged by Stourbridge-based Spirit of Djembe at Rock Village Hall on Friday April 21.
The group is a not-for-profit community band of enthusiastic drummers who enjoy playing traditional West African rhythms on the goblet-shaped djembe drum.
Their teacher and leader is Faith Sax, who grew up in South Africa, and now also offers daytime and evening classes.
She said: “These ancient rhythms have many healing effects. They bring people into harmony, closeness and community. They generate joy and energy, putting people in touch with their love of life.”
The workshop will run from 10am until 4pm at the hall in Porchbrook Road, Kidderminster.
No experience is necessary, and drums can be provided.
The workshop costs £25 and includes a hot drink on arrival and an afternoon cream scone.
To book a place contact Faith on 07526 261250, email faithsax@gmail.com or spiritofdjembeorg@outlook.com.
