CONSTRUCTION work has now started on a new 12-classroom block at a secondary school.
Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier visited Wolverley CE Secondary school last week to mark the start of the development.
This £3m project is part of a wider £5m scheme to upgrade, expand and improve facilities at the school.
The MP discussed the scheme with Headteacher Bryn Thomas and had a tour of the main construction site.
The school is set to benefit from investment in remodelled classrooms and a multipurpose lecture theatre, as well as significant ongoing work to replace and upgrade heating and roofing.
Bryn Thomas said: “Wolverley continues to be a successful, improving, and growing school and this investment is welcomed by the school community.
"Our students deserve the very best teaching and learning environment we can offer, and the start of these works marks the start of an exciting period in the school’s history.
"Significant capital investment in schools is becoming very challenging to secure in this economic climate, so we are delighted that Wolverley will benefit from such an impactful scheme.
Mr Garnier said: “I am always impressed with the vision and passion Bryn has for Wolverley and its students and I am delighted that I was able to witness the start of some transformational change and investment in a Wyre Forest secondary school.”
The new building is scheduled to be completed in early November.
