These amazing images show Coronation celebrations throughout Kidderminster, from King George V’s Coronation and King George VI’s.
The carpet industry has been heavily involved in Coronation rugs throughout its time, as well as rugs for royal occasions.
The Museum of Carpet will be using designs and photographs in their ‘Coronation Carpets’ talk this April, where they’ll look back at the history of coronation carpets, creating excitement ready for the King’s Coronation Ceremony in May.
To delve into the Coronation anticipation and discover Kidderminster’s connection to royal carpets, visit the Museum of Carpet on the 27th April at 10:30am. Book tickets by visiting museumofcarpet.org.uk, call 01562 69028 or visit the Museum reception.
