Madam,
I am very grateful to those MPs who voted to ban the import of hunting trophies to this country.
There has been a lot of national interest in this issue from people here and from African nations and some conservationists who are in favour of continuing this disgusting trade.
No one should be in favour of hunting down animals who have no defence against their guns.
This is not the way I want to see this country develop in future.
We have enough killing and culling going on here without condoning it outside our borders.
There is still the issue of trophies coming in through Northern Ireland channels as they are still tied up with the EU but hopefully import controls will deal with this.
Well done to all those MPs who stayed over to vote on the issue on Friday 17 March and to those who did not - shame on you.
Linda Brown
