As the town's carpet industry declined naturally changes came to Kidderminster’s architecture.
It’s hard to imagine for most residents now but Kidderminster town centre during the 1960’s was once dominated by carpet factories and their associated chimneys.
Little evidence remains these days but you’ll still find various carpet related buildings around Kidderminster town which have been repurposed in to modern facilities including hotel, restaurants, offices and college buildings.
This includes the Stour Vale Mill which was redeveloped in 2012 to the house the Museum of Carpet which purpose is to celebrate and preserves part of the town’s heritage within the carpet industry.
