Grade 1 listed St Mary’s Church thought to be built in either 15th or 16th century has always been a prominent building in Kidderminster town centre.
The names of leading clergy in the region dating back further, from the 12th century, are listed in the church although it is believed there was a minister in the area from Anglo-Saxon times.
The prominent feature of the church is its tower which dates from the 15th century and contains a peal of 12 bells
These selected photos of St Mary’s Church were taken from Mill Street Wharf between 1900 and 1994.
To learn more of the history of Kidderminster, the Museum of Carpet is hosting a walking tour with local history enthusiast Michael Loftus on the 20th July 2023.
