THE Severn Valley Railway has revealed the four locomotives that will be joining its Autumn Diesel Bash line-up.
The event, which will take place from 29th September to 1st October, will feature an impressive array of diesel hydraulics.
The guest locomotives include the Class 35 Hymeks D7017 and D7018, owned by the Diesel & Electric Preservation Group and based at the West Somerset Railway, as well as the Warship Class No 832 ‘Onslaught’ and Class 35 Hymek 7076, owned by the Bury Hydraulic Group and based at the East Lancashire Railway.
These visitors will accompany the SVR-based D821 ‘Greyhound’, D1015 ‘Western Champion’, and D1062 ‘Western Courier’ to complete the ‘Magnificent Seven’ line-up.
The SVR’s managing director, Jonathan ‘Gus’ Dunster, described the event as “very ambitious,” explaining that the railway wanted to showcase the largest ever gathering of main line diesel hydraulic types.
The SVR aims to position itself as the leading venue for heritage diesel events and hopes that this event will solidify its reputation.
In addition to the locomotives on display, the railway is also planning photo shoots with some of the visitors and the home fleet.
There will also be a pre-event ‘excursion’ day on Wednesday 27th September, offering three round trips with three different diesel hydraulic locomotives.
At The Engine House, there will be a display of miniature diesel hydraulics and a mini beer festival.
