THE Severn Valley Railway is extending its popular early summer discounts for local residents throughout the month of August.
People living in specific postcodes near the heritage line will receive a 33 per cent discount on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The offer applies to postcodes DY10, DY11, DY12, DY13, DY14, WV15, and WV16, and proof of address will be required when booking.
In addition to the discount, buyers of full Freedom-of-the-Line tickets will receive a voucher for a free return visit later in the year.
Lewis Maddox, the SVR’s visitor engagement manager, said that the railway wanted to assist local families during the school summer holidays.
He said that families do not have to travel far for a great day out, as the railway offers not only the excitement of riding on a heritage steam or diesel train but also a range of activities.
These activities include fun workshops at the Engine House Visitor Centre, where children can learn how to make slime with Sublime Science, as well as building a giant train set and enjoying family crazy golf sessions.
Children under four travel for free, and even the family dog can come along without charge.
Local residents can pre-book discounted tickets on the SVR website or purchase them on the day of travel, as long as they provide proof of their address.
