With the recent announcement of the redevelopment of Worcester Street the Nostalgia Page looks back to the 1960’s prior to the last redevelopment which took place at the end of that decade.
Two images show the Lion Hotel from 1963 which stood at the top of Worcester Street at the junction of High Street.
The Lion Hotel was demolished in 1965 to make way for the current building which is most famous for housing Woolworths from 1969 to 2002.
The third photo is taken from Bromsgrove Street looking down Lion Street also in 1963 where the rear of the Lion Hotel is visible and the old gas holder which still dominated the town centre skyline.
The final image shows Lion Yard which was a passage that linked Bromsgrove Street to Worcester Street.
