A couple from Kidderminster are marking their diamond wedding anniversary today (Thursday, September 28) with an afternoon of celebrations.
Mike and Anne Bull were married at St Chad’s Church in Sutton Coldfield in 1963 and will be celebrating the special day with fun, food and laughter at their Franche home alongside their children, Adam and Fleur, and extended family.
The couple, who were originally from New Oscott and Sutton Coldfield, have lived in the town for almost two decades after relocating from further afield to be closer to their daughter.
The groom’s mother made the bride’s wedding dress, which was accompanied by a blue tulle train at the rear of the full-skirted Nottingham lace dress and accompanied by a bouquet of amber roses, lily-of-the-valley, white stephanotis and carnations.
Anne admits that when she met Mike, it was a joint attraction to both him and his red Austin Healey Sprite which sealed the deal all those years ago.
The couple, now both in their 80s, enjoy being active, using their caravan, travelling and taking part in local events organised by the Gardening Club.
On behalf of the family, daughter Fleur Warner said: “We would like to wish them the very best for a happy diamond anniversary. It’s a very special achievement and one we are all so impressed by.”
