BEWDLEY shoppers will be able to buy some bargains as part of a new scheme to support trade.
Local businesses in the town have come together as part of the 'Magic Tenner' initiative.
Between October 7 and 21, more than 40 businesses in Bewdley will have £10 offers on for certain products.
The main concept of the scheme is about shopping locally and how spending £10 with a local independent business can mean up to £50 goes back into Bewdley's economy.
Leanne Hemming, of Affinity Local Business Marketing, said: "Because most independent businesses buy from many other local businesses too. So when you spend £10 with one, it enables them to keep buying from those suppliers. So the money goes round and round Bewdley's local economy.
"This is really important as it strengthens our high street and helps hundreds of small businesses to thrive, making Bewdley a better place to live, work and visit. Buying online, or at the big national chains & supermarkets has a much smaller effect, as most (or all) of the money leaves the local economy the minute you buy something”.
The scheme comes ahead of the main construction phase of the new Beales Corner flood barriers.
Traffic management on Bewdley Bridge and Kidderminster will commence from October 19 and will be in place through most of the construction period, which is anticipated to be between 18 and 22 months. Traders previously voiced their fears that this will have an impact on their business.
Businesses taking part in the new 'Magic Tenner' initiative include Andrew Francis Butchers, Affinity Local Business Marketing, Bark Avenue, Bella Mia, Bewdley Blooms, Bewdley Farm Shop, Bewdley Pet Supplies, Bewdley Picture Framing, Elske, Fluffy Cow, Foundry Artist, From The Wildwood, Heel 2 Heal Aromatherapy & Reflexology, La Fragancia, Lyon’s Wood Emporium, Merchants Fish & Chip Shop, Mooch, Morena Artina Fine Art, Mrs Chills, Mystic Severn, Once Upon A Time Eco Jewellery, Pewter Works, Piccolos, Posh Pads Grooming, Ripleys, Riverside Cafe, Rogue Letter, Severn Valley Guest House, The Bailiffs House, The Garden Kitchen, The Green Cobbler, The Mug House, The Vape Bar, Witch In The Wildwood, Wyre Forest Books and Zoo.
