AMBULANCE and fire crews rushed to the aid of an elderly man who suffered a medical emergency.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Dowles Road in Bewdley on Sunday afternoon (Sunday, October 8).

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service assisted the ambulance team by transporting a man in his 70s down a wooded embankment.

An ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to a medical emergency on Dowles Road at 11.52am yesterday, one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one male patient who following treatment was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital".

A fire brigade spokesperson added that a crew from Wyre Forest Fire Station, plus off-road vehicles from Droitwich and Malvern were called to assist the ambulance service.

They said: "Help was required transporting a male casualty in his 70s down a wooded embankment with a steep gradient through barbed wire fending to an ambulance".
