Wyre Forest District Council has been revealed as one of the best in the country thanks to the finance team.
The council is one of only five local government bodies to have its accounts audited by the September 30 deadline this year.
It puts them in the top one percent of the country whilst 462 outstanding audits did not meet the deadline according to the Public Sector Audit Appointments (PSAA).
Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet member for finance and capital portfolio, David Ross, said: “This is a fantastic achievement made possibly by our dedicated finance team and all other staff who supported the production of the accounts.
“In the last two years, the council was amongst fewer than ten percent of councils that had accounts audited on time. Now being in the one percent that have done so is a massive credit to our team and their high standards of working.”
The council’s ‘Statement of Accounts 2022-2023’ can be viewed at www.wyreforest.gov.uk/statement-of-accounts-22-23
The conclusion of the audit is estimated by December 2023 after the ‘Value for Money, Opinion and Final Audit Certificate’ has been received.
