A brand-new axe-swinging fitness class has been launched in Kidderminster for the whole town to enjoy.
Axercise, which is part of TimberJacks, is the first dedicated axe-swinging fitness venue in the UK offering customers the opportunity to get fit by chopping logs in a safe environment.
The classes are an ideal way to improve physical and mental health with sessions open to both beginners and those more experienced.
Graphics and marketing developer at TimberJacks, Jack Baxter, said: “Quite a lot of people try going to the gym and for some it really works, but for others, they can feel stuck in the same routine.
“Axercise isn’t designed to replace the gym, but it’s a great way to encourage people to keep fit and have fun whilst exercising.
“It’s a fantastic atmosphere and really helps to cleanse your mind and get a bit of anger out if you need to which reduces anti-social behaviour. There are just so many benefits.”
The sessions are also designed to get people into fitness by removing the barriers that might stop them from going to the gym.
The venue offers its facilities for both individuals and groups with an intense 6-week boot camp or one-to-one programme also available with personal trainer Matt McClure.
Mr Baxter added: “We’ve had quite a few enquiries already and the customers who have tried it have all loved it.
“Whether guests are beginners or bodybuilders, we’re encouraging everyone to get involved and set their own goals.”
Staff have also introduced a warm-up routine with a new resistance band recently being installed. The band mimics the action of swinging the axe to improve technique and reduce injuries.
The venue in Green Street is open from 6am to 10pm every week day and 8am to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday with price lists available on the website.
Walk-ins are accepted but the team advise booking ahead to avoid disappointment.
