HUNDREDS of ceramic poppies are being displayed at a Bewdley war memorial to honour fallen soldiers.
Bewdley Town Council approached Bewdley School to join in a collaborative project to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.
Year 9 textile students and a group of Bewdley Sixth Form students took part in a ceramic workshop. Students created 286 polymer poppies to commemorate and remember lost lives.
The project was inspired by the commemorative art installation ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ created by Paul Cummins and Tom Piper displayed at the Tower of London in 2014.
The piece marked the centenary of the outbreak of The First World War (WWI) and saw 888,246 ceramic poppies filling the moat, one poppy for each British and Colonial life lost at the Front in WW1.
The poppies will be placed on sticks and will be displayed around the War Memorial at St Anne’s Church in the centre of Bewdley, ready for Remembrance Sunday.
People can visit Bewdley from Thursday, November 2 to see the display in front of St Anne's Church, Load Street
