THE sudden closure of a Kidderminster nursery has caused concern, a county councillor has said.
Hickory Dickory Dock Day Nursery, on Warbler Place in Spennells, closed with immediate effect this week.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Cabinet Member for Education at Worcestershire County Council, said: “We are very concerned to hear the news that privately owned Hickory Dickory Day Nursery in Kidderminster has taken the decision to close with immediate effect.
"The sudden closure of a nursery can be a very difficult and upsetting time for children and their families".
It is currently unknown why the nursery has closed, however, the council has confirmed it is working with the management to find alternative places for children affected.
Councillor Onslow added: "We are working with the manager of the nursery, and other local providers, to identify alternative settings with confirmed vacancies so that childcare can be secured for all families affected by the closure.
"Any families who have not yet secured a place for their child should contact their local Family Hub via 01905 520032."
