Dunelm in Kidderminster has launched its Christmas gift appeal for the fourth year running to help those less fortunate in the area.
The ‘Delivering Joy’ campaign aims to help people across the UK that might not otherwise have a gift to open on Christmas Day.
The store is encouraging customers to collect a tag from their local Dunelm with a gift request from a local good cause including schools, care homes, refuges and charities.
Customers are asked to return the tag attached to a gift which Dunelm will then deliver to the recipient before Christmas.
Store manager at Dunelm in Kidderminster, Rachel Garey, said: “Following the incredible success of the Delivering Joy campaign over the last three years, we can’t wait to see what this year brings.
“We want to help deliver even more joy to people in Kidderminster, who, without the generosity of our community, might otherwise go without gifts this Christmas.
“We can’t wait to receive the gifts and deliver these to some of the incredible causes and wonderful local people that have requested them.”
Generous members of the community have already been hard at work supporting the important cause with almost a hundred gifts already being returned and a lot more set to be picked up in the coming weeks.
Last year’s campaign saw the number of donated gifts soar from just under 20,000 to more than 60,000 and this year looks likely to top that.
Many of the requests are simple and include teddies, underwear and hair bobbles as well as toiletries and socks to help people during the cost-of-living crisis.
Chief People Officer and Stores Director at Dunelm, Amanda Cox, said: “With the cost-of-living crisis still impacting many families and the elderly, we want to deliver as much joy as we can for those who might need some extra support this Christmas.
“We’ve already been overwhelmed by the generosity we’ve seen from so many of our customers and I know the team at our Kidderminster store is working really hard to make sure that this year we are able to deliver more joy than ever before.”
Any tags unfulfilled by the middle of December will be funded by Dunelm with customers also able to give an online gift through charity partner Mind.
