Flood barriers have been deployed in Bewdley following fears of the rising water levels.
The Environment Agency confirmed the defences had been deployed along Severnside to combat the risk of flooding to houses and businesses from the River Severn.
People have also been urged to avoid footpaths and driving on roads near the river.
Response Lead for the Environment Agency, Barry Killner, said: “The Environment Agency field team in the Worcestershire are deploying demountable barrier phase one today due to rising river levels and further forecast rain over the next few days.”
The move comes after the town was hit hard by flooding from Storm Babet in October with nearby businesses along Severnside North and Severnside South being forced to close as river levels peaked.
There was also increased concerns from resident for flooding hotspot, Beales Corner, which is unable to put up any defences due to the ongoing work to create permanent barriers.
