A "MIRACLE" cat who was dumped near death in a Kidderminster bin store has found his happy ending in time for Christmas.

Asher was found by bin men in the Horsefair area of the town - he was so lifeless they thought he was a fur hat.

The male cat was in a Peppa Peg fabric toy box with a cot piled on top of him, in what has been branded a "calculated, premeditated and abhorrent act of cruelty."

Volunteers from Stourbridge and District RSPCA branch were advised to put him to sleep as he was emaciated and riddles with fleas - but they refused to give up on him and their determination has now paid off with Asher having gone to a fantastic new home in the Stourbridge area.

Branch chairperson Liz Cormell said: "He's very settled and has got his happy ending.

"We weren't looking to rehome him yet - but the offer was too good to be passed up and it's fantastic that he is in his new home for Christmas."

Volunteers said on social media: "Although we weren’t taking applications for Asher, we had a conversation with Ginger Cat Crafts about a wonderful family who had seen Asher’s plight and needless to say they submitted an application for consideration.

"Asher went for his blood test and miraculously after all he’d endured his levels were all within normal parameters.

"Vets in effect signed him off, requiring nothing further other than to finish his antibiotic course.

"He really is a miracle!"

They shared a picture of him saying: "He's living his new life of love, a far cry from the boy rescued after being disposed of by the bins!

"Forever loved by us all.

"Thank you to every single person who supported this very special boy in his recovery."
