A PRIMARY school teacher who goes "above and beyond" to support pupils has been nominated for a prestigious award.
Lisa White teaches year one pupils and is also the deputy head and the special needs coordinator at St John's CofE Primary School in Kidderminster.
She's been nominated for the Unsung Hero Award at this year's Worcestershire Education Awards.
She was nominated for the award by The Spire CofE Learning Trust's special needs coordinator Daniel McEvilly.
He said: "Lisa is a wonderful teacher who goes above and beyond to support all the children at St John’s Primary School.
"She has a number of roles in the school and looks after the most vulnerable students.
"She makes a real difference to those who need it the most advocating for them and ensuring they have the support their needs".
Reacting to the nomination, Lisa said: "It really is an honour to be nominated for this award, you don't go into teaching for things like this but to help and support children and parents instead.
"My role as special needs coordinator can be challenging but also so rewarding when you are able to give children with additional needs and their families the help, advice, understanding and care that they truly deserve.
"Taking on the role of SENCO was a challenge, especially going back to university to complete the NASENCO qualification while working full time but it was so worthwhile.
"My family, partner Jon and my 11 year old son Charlie have been pivotal to the successes in my career with their unconditional love and support throughout".
