A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Severn in Worcestershire following the heavy rainfall.
The Environment Agency has said river levels are rising, which means flooding of roads and farmland is possible.
Sharing an amber flood alert, the Environment Agency said: "We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Highley to Tewkesbury.
"Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke, Upton upon Severn, South Quay, Diglis Parade and the Hylton Road towpath, B4195 Stourport Road.
"Flooded drains may affect the racecourse and Worcester County cricket ground. New street Gate is now closed at Upton upon Severn and may be impassable.
"Install property level protection if required".
"We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days.
"We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and avoid contact with flood water".
