SEVERN Trent has said "excellent progress" is being made on pipe replacement works whilst a main road is closed.
A section of the A448 in Chaddesley Corbett is closed for three months whilst the work is carried out, which has been affecting trade in the area.
The work on the road started in May 2023 but had to be abandoned due to a road worker being seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle.
In a update, a Severn Trent spokesperson said: “Our teams have been working very hard to make excellent early progress on the mains replacement works at Chaddesley Corbett.
"The works began last Monday, 19th February, and we initially encountered harder ground than first expected. But with the aid of a specialist directional rock drill, we have managed to install 200m of new mains".
They added: “We do still have pressure testing, connection and commission works to complete but we are pleased with this excellent start to the project.
“We know residents want this work completed as soon as possible as roadworks and diversions can be disruptive to the community. We want to thank them for their understanding and patience and to reassure them our teams are working as hard as possible to complete this scheme, which will boost and secure water supply in the area.”
