AN inquest has been formally opened into the death of six-year-old Leo Painter following a tragic car crash last month.
Inquests previously opened into the deaths of Courtney Hemming, 26, and Claire Adkins, 39, who also died in the collision on the A44 Spetchley Road, Worcester.
The Coroner's Service register shows that an inquest into the death of Leo Painter, formerly of Kidderminster, opened earlier this week on Monday (March 11).
The fatal crash took place at around 3.07pm on Thursday, February 22.
Claire Adkins and Courtney Hemming, both from Worcester, died at the scene when the Ford Mondeo, which they were travelling in, was in collision with a grey BMW 3 series.
Leo, also in the Mondeo, was rushed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital but died a short time later.
An inquest hearing into the deaths of all three people will be heard at Worcestershire Coroner's Court in Stourport on October 29 this year.
Two men, travelling in the BMW, suffered serious injuries. One remains in hospital.
Leo's mum Gemma has since paid tribute to her son with a GoFundMe set up by her friends in his memory.
She said: "Leo was a wonderful little boy. He always had a smile on his face and was a bundle of fun. I’m heartbroken that I won’t see him again."
We previously reported flowers, cards with personal messages and a teddy bear were left at the scene of a crash on the A44.
