AUTHORS and poets brought storytelling to life for more than 1,000 children from schools across Wyre Forest as part of World Book Day.
The Severn Academies Educational Trust (SAET) arranged visits from three professional writers to inspire all year groups attending its six primary schools.
Performance poet and singer/songwriter SPOZ ran a fun session for all reception pupils and children’s author Daniel Henshaw motivated years three to six with his interactive workshops.
Former footballer turned performance poet and writer Terry Caffrey enthused years one and two while supporting teachers with creative writing ideas.
Trust schools Stourport Primary Academy and St Bartholomew’s, Areley Kings, hosted the sessions, welcoming children from Far Forest Lea Memorial Primary Academy, Hartlebury Primary, Wilden All Saints Primary and Wolverley Sebright Primary Academy.
Chris King, SAET chief executive, said: “The opportunity for children to meet and work with authors really does spark their enthusiasm for reading and inspires their own story and poetry writing as well as being a good opportunity to come together with their peers.”
