AN elderly man was taken to hospital with "potentially serious injuries" after a car overturned, closing the busy A449 Kidderminster Road at Caunsall.
The road was closed in both directions between Windsor Holloway and Caunsall Road, after the two-car crash at around 3.40pm yesterday (Monday March 25).
Police, medics and firefighters attended with an elderly couple hurt. Firefighters made the overturned car safe.
The man was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital.
The elderly woman was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital.
A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester fire service said: "We were called at 3.46pm to an RTC at the junction of Caunsall Road and the A449 in Cookley.
"The A449 was closed in both directions.
"The incident involved two vehicles, one of which had overturned and both of which were made safe by fire service personnel.
"No persons were trapped but two elderly casualties, one male and one female were handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police.
"The incident was marked as pending closure at 3.45pm."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances were sent to the scene.
"On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a woman.
"The man was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital.
"The woman was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital."
West Mercia Police had posted on X about the incident – advising motorists to find alternative routes if possible.
