A KIDDERMINSTER pub is celebrating after receiving top marks from ale quality assessors.
The Swan in Kidderminster town centre has secured a clean sweep from Cask Marque with full marks across every aspect of the assessment.
Cask Marque is considered a badge of honour, which shows pubs serve excellent quality cask ale.
Reacting to the five-out-of-five score across each assessment area, Laura Capper, the general manager of the pub, said: “We work so hard to ensure every aspect of the customer experience is on point, and to score full marks across the storing, chilling, and serving ale makes us immensely proud.
"It means that the customer really does enjoy every sip of their pint in our pub.”
According to its website, Cask Marque was formed in 1998 to "address the void in beer quality control."
They say this was caused partly by the 1990 beer orders which "forced breweries to sell their pubs or vice versa, and thus often their interest in the quality itself, resulting in a major concern for the industry".
Cask Marque is a non-profit making organisation with a board made up of representatives from large and small breweries, pub companies and trade bodies.
