A BURGER artisan has joined forces with his pub landlord cousin to open up a brand new restaurant.
Mike Roberts went from fixing electrics to starting his own Smash My Patty burger business in Kidderminster back in 2021.
He opened the burger joint at the 8 Ball and Arrows sports bar on Green Street, but has now moved to a new site - his cousin Ben's pub The Cavalier.
He's taken over the kitchen of the Tennyson Way establishment and will relaunch the restaurant on Friday (April 12).
Mike, aged 35, said: "Ben who owns the Cavalier is my cousin. I came down here, had a chat with him and he was looking for one to rent out the kitchen.
"It worked out quite well. I was brought up on the estate where the pub is.
"It's nice to have two local people running the business".
He added: "There's a bigger menu. We've got various events on over the summer.
"It's exciting to be fair".
Ben Roberts, aged 31, is hoping the new restaurant will attract new customers to the pub.
He said: “I think it’s a good match. I’m really excited to have it here.
“I used to do all the food myself. I wanted Mike here for quite a while.
“I think they have got quite an established base elsewhere. It’s like bringing two families together – it’s quite nice.
“I absolutely love the food. It’s fantastic. It’s probably the best quality in the area".
The launch night starts from 5pm until 10pm on Friday.
The restaurant offers a range of loaded fries and smash burgers, which they say are cooked using "top-quality ingredients."
