TWO weeks of events, activities and initiatives — promoting sustainability and greener living — kick off on Saturday, April 27.

There are more than 50 planned initiatives throughout SustFest Wyre Forest, coordinated by the umbrella green group Wyre Forest Green Alliance.

Events include foraging workshops, art classes, children’s events, woodland walks, craft events and much more.

The festival is a chance to showcase everything happening across the region that make life a little 'greener, happier or healthier'.

To celebrate, there’s going to be a free family fun day at Stourport Riverside Meadows on April 27 from 11am until 4pm.

There will be more than 50 stalls selling environmentally-friendly items plus climate-friendly food, live music, performances and sustainability talks.

There will also be participatory activities for children and adults.

Peter Miller, from Transition Bewdley and Wyre Forest Green Alliance, said: “We at Transition Bewdley are pleased to be involved in this third year of SustFest Wyre Forest to reach out to local communities and share our activities and events as part of a wonderful, varied programme in support of a greener, happier, healthier future for all of us.”

One ethical vendor said that being part of SustFest 2023 was brilliant, having the chance to support the awareness and message behind ethical and fair-trade shopping.

Stourport town councillor Em Burnip, who is part of the festival organising team, is pleased with the growth in outreach and variety of events happening.

She said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to be the part of the organising team for SustFest again.

"In its third year, this year’s festival is going to be bigger and better and hopefully reaching even more people within the Wyre Forest district and from further afield.

"There are a huge range of sustainable events happening during the two weeks thanks to all the businesses and individuals who are so keen to spread the 'sustainability' message in our region."

More information and the full calendar of events can be found on the Wyre Forest SustFest website at www.sustfestwyreforest.org.

A printed programme is also available in local libraries and businesses across Bewdley, Kidderminster and Stourport.
