CREATIVE pupils have been shining at a Kidderminster school.

King Charles I School had a student in the Worcestershire Young Poet Laureate final for years nine to 11.

And three year seven pupils will feature in a book for creative writing.

Year nine’s Abigail Hall enjoyed performing her poem at the Worcestershire Young Poet Laureate final with plans afoot to enter next year too.

Fellow pupils Zoe Dexter, Ava Calladine and Kamile Dunauskaite entered a national writing competition called The Glitch.

They received certificates for ‘excellence in writing’ and will have their work published as part of a collection by Young Writers.

The school also had Worcestershire Schools Poetry Slam finalists in Jacob Bettis, Max Bridges, Vincenzo Capuanao, Alex Griffiths, Asa Harris, Harrison Law and Edison Young.

The boys performed well in front of a packed audience and a panel of judges for the first time the school had participated in the poetry slam.

Since January the boys had displayed commitment and enthusiasm by giving up time at home and during lunchtimes to prepare.
