Bomb disposal experts have successfully detonated an unexploded World War Two device after it was discovered in a garden in Stourport.
West Mercia Police set up a 50-metre cordon on Yarranton Close and evacuated residents from nearby flats at around 2.50pm yesterday (Thursday, May 16).
The measures were taken after WWII artillery was discovered in a back garden on the street.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene and disposed of the ordnance safely in a nearby field.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police evacuated residents after a World War Two bomb was discovered. A 50-metre cordon was set up for around two hours for the protection of the public.
"Bomb disposal experts were called and took the bomb to a nearby field where it was safely detonated."
West Mercia Police provided regular updates on social media before announcing the cordon had been lifted shortly before 6pm.
