A popular hotel in Stourport is set to "kick off the summer in style" as it prepares to host its first festival.

Groove on the Green Festival will be coming to Stourport Manor Hotel over the bank holiday weekend and promises to help create "unforgettable memories".

From Friday, May 24 to Monday, May 27, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of food and drinks, live entertainment and activities including face painting and mini golf.

There is set to be something for everyone to enjoy as the festival aims to bring the community together and support local businesses.

Sales and events manager Katie Hughes said: "Groove on the Green is more than just a festival. It's a celebration of community, music, and the joy of coming together.

"Designed with families in mind, this event will take place over 21 acres of land and we're thrilled to bring together local breweries, fantastic musicians, and a plethora of family-friendly activities for a weekend that promises unforgettable memories.

"Unfortunately, our plans were stumped somewhat when our original dates were halted due to some residents apposing our change of licence.  This caused huge financial ramifications for us having to rearrange an entire festival in just a matter of weeks. However, we were adamant it would still go ahead.

"We are now reaching out to our local community asking them to please support our hotel in joining us as we kick off summer with style, creating moments that will be cherished by all who attend."

The hotel has curated a packed line-up of musicians from The Murmur and The Ed Team to Country Roads and the Institutions.

On Saturday (May 25), there will also be a silent disco and a live DJ set by Louis Benton.

Ms Hughes added: "By branching out and hosting events such as our highly anticipated Groove on The Green Festival, we can stay afloat.

"Many other local hospitality venues and hotels have closed down due to COVID-19 and the cost-of-living crisis, so we are relying on public support for this and other events to guarantee the business continues to thrive for many years."
