A NEW Mayor of Stourport has been appointed for the year.
Councillor John Thomas was elected as the new Mayor of Stourport at a meeting of Stourport Town Council earlier this month.
His two daughters, Maria Thomas and Sarah Thomas-Price will share the mayoress duties.
Councillor Thomas' charities for the forthcoming year are Parkinson's and the Worcester Breast Unit Haven.
Councillor Howard Williams was also appointed Deputy Mayor at the meeting on May 7 this year.
People took to social media to congratulate councillor Thomas.
Julie Holmes said: "Huge congratulations to John Thomas, knowing how committed and passionate you are about supporting Stourport, you’re going to be a wonderful Mayor".
Mark Gallett said: "Congratulations John Thomas for your appointment as Mayor of Stourport I wish you every success for 2024/25".
