A shop in Kidderminster has been forced to close after police were called to reports of a burglary. 

West Mercia Police said they were called at around 2.50am today (Thursday, May 23) to reports of a burglary happening at the Co-op on Franche Road in Kidderminster. 

The Co-op travel branch that operates inside the store revealed that it was unable to open this morning whilst investigations continue. 

All calls from the Kidderminster branch have been redirected to the Stourport branch.

In a post on Facebook, Co-op Travel Franche said: "We are closed at the moment due to an incident in the Food store in the early hours.

"We will update you all once we are open. Calls are being diverted to our Stourport branch if you need to contact us you can still call or email us."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 2:50am this morning (May 23) with a report of a burglary happening at the Coop on Franche Road in Kidderminster.

"Officers arrived at the incident and an investigation is now ongoing." 

Officers have now put out an appeal for CCTV or video doorbell footage from those in the area. 

Police said: "At 2.50am today (Thursday, May 23), there was a break-in at the Co-Op store on Franche Road, Kidderminster.

"If you live nearby, please can you check any CCTV/video doorbells from 2am to 3am. Relevant footage can be sent to us digitally, using: https://orlo.uk/Vf0NR."
