MORE than 120 people have been enjoying free yoga at Brinton Park in Kidderminster.

Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health team, have worked together to bring Park Yoga to the town.

It aims to help increase exercise activity provision and bring the community together.

The sessions are gentle and at a level that everyone can access or adapt easily.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background, or ability and it’s completely free. Children are welcome along with parents or carers.

The Park Yoga season, hosted by ONSIDE, runs until September 15. Trained instructor, Kat from Lucky Kat Yoga, delivers the outdoor yoga sessions every Sunday from 9:30am to 10:30am.

Feedback for the first few sessions has been positive.

One Park Yoga Kidderminster participant, who was grateful for their experience at the session, said: “It was a really beautiful practice, thank you.”

Another person said: “It was my first session and will definitely be going again.”

Kat Gibby, from Lucky Kat Yoga who runs the sessions said: “I’m really pleased with how the sessions have gone so far.

"We have had lots of people coming to have a go at yoga for the first time. Being able to do a headstand is not a requirement! People often say they are not flexible enough to practice yoga, but you don't need to be.

"If you have always wanted to try yoga, but haven’t dared to, then this is the class for you. I would love to see you there this summer.”

Councillor David Ross, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “It has been wonderful to hear that the first few sessions of Park Yoga in Brinton Park have been so well attended.

"I’m really pleased our Public Health team have been working alongside our partners to increase the number of local opportunities for accessing nature and improving both your physical and mental health.”
