A couple have been left "delighted" after businesses and residents came together to support a fundraising event in memory of a much-loved grandad.

Kai and Rachel Carey-Bishop held a fundraiser last week for Blood Cancer UK at The Wharf Care Home in Stourport-on-Severn.

Kai has worked at the home since September 2022 as a hospitality assistant whilst Rachel worked there for a year until December 2023 as a kitchen assistant.

The event was held in memory of Rachel's beloved grandad, Tony Morris, who passed away from Leukaemia on March 31.

Rachel said he was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is missed every day by his family and friends.

The couple said: "It is a delight to be able to give money to Blood Cancer UK, a charity which does amazing work.

"It supports people living with cancer and does crucial research to help us get one step closer to a world where everyone beats cancer."

The fundraiser took place on Tuesday, May 28 where guests could enjoy an afternoon tea with a raffle, tombola and stalls.

This is the second fundraiser they have held at the care home after managing to raise £555 for Breast Cancer Now last year.

The event this week managed to raise more than £600 with support from Severn Tandoori, Serendipity Beauty, Orchid Spa, TC's Café, The Couture Cake Company, Newton Fish Bar, Tesco and Son of a Bleach Salon which all donated prizes for the raffle.

Following the event, residents said they had a "wonderful" and enjoyable afternoon and were "proud to be a part of it".

Kai and Rachel have thanked all the businesses and residents for their support and generous donations.

They have also thanked The Wharf home manager, Heather, and HSM Julie for helping to host the fundraiser.
