A brand-new fitness studio is set to open its doors in Kidderminster town centre next week.

Fitter Body Ladies (FBL), which is being run by mum-of-one Katie Billingham, is a franchise aimed at providing a safe and judgement-free space for women over 30.

The studio will officially open in Worcester Street on Monday (June 3) and offers an exclusive 28-day challenge for members looking to lose weight, get fit and boost their confidence.

The challenge focuses on the three F's of food, fitness and focus with Ms Billingham also running the 'Drop-A-Dress Size' programme in June.

The 41-year-old from Stourport said: "I really can't wait to get up and running next week. We have already had some inductions over the past few days and it has been fabulous.

"I have been teaching at a martial arts school for many years and when things happened in my personal life, I started to gain a bit of weight. I tried going back to the gym but I found myself so out of place alongside younger women.

"The fitness opportunities for those in their 20s are really great, but when you get to a certain age, you lose yourself a bit and don't feel as comfortable.

"I wanted to find a new opportunity and that's when I found out about Fitter Body Ladies. I love that it is tailored to women over 30 and it has such a big focus on nutrition alongside the fitness programme."

FBL was created by couple Alex and Ricky Knight in 2012 with Ms Billingham being the 21st franchisee of the business.

She was officially handed the keys to the building in May and has been busy decorating and setting everything up in time for the launch event.

Ms Billingham also hopes the new business will help bring more people into the town and will benefit other local shops.

She said: "It has been a really crazy month. I am a single mum and I couldn't have done this without the amazing support from my mom and dad, son, friends and neighbours on Worcester Street.

"I hope it helps bring a bit of life back to the town and I will be encouraging my clients to shop local. I've grown up around Kidderminster and Stourport and it will be great to give something back to the area.

"I want this studio to be a safe and judgement-free space for women. Life can be difficult for busy women juggling home and work life and sometimes we forget to take time for ourselves.

"I want people to know that there is no such thing as oversharing in my studio. Whether it's about post-pregnancy issues, menopause or just feeling out of fitness, I want to open discussions, reduce isolation and help women make new friends."

For those interested in signing up, Ms Billingham holds an initial consultation with clients to discuss suitability and will try to work the programme around their schedule.

The sessions run for 28 days at different times on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a contingency date on a Saturday.

People are welcome to stay on for longer than the initial 28 days.
