Shoppers in Kidderminster have had their say on the new B&M store in Weavers Wharf.

The discount retailer relocated to the former Debenhams building at Slingfield Mill last week after the site had been left vacant since 2020.

B&M was originally located in the Swan Centre but moved following feedback from shoppers to give the community a "bigger and better" store.

The new shop officially opened its doors on Thursday, May 30 at 8am with residents flocking to the retail outlet to get a first look and pick up some bargains.

One shopper outside the store said: "I don't normally shop in B&M but I thought I'd come down and have a look today.

"The store is huge and it's great to see an empty shop being filled."

Another added: "I was really impressed with the amount of products and the staff were really helpful, but it was a bit overwhelming at first and the escalators were quite confusing."

Shoppers have also taken to social media to give their thoughts on the new store with many praising the staff and its convenient location.

Mish Kimani said: "I thought it was lovely. Lots of choice and helpful staff."

Beverley Crane said: "Very nice and fresh. It was lovely to see all the shelves full. I didn't have time to go upstairs but will do on my next visit.

"Well done to all the staff. I worked in retail for 13 years and know how much time and effort went into getting that shop ready."

Valda Welch added: "I went on opening day. Ideal for bus passengers. Well done everyone."

But the relocated store has also received mixed reactions from residents with some commenting that the store is too cramped and others saying they miss Wilko and would have liked to see another retailer move into the area.

Andrea Hazeldine said: "I enjoyed looking around, but I do think it was a bit cramped. The aisles need to be a bit wider."

Susan Patricia Myers said: "It is quite dark. I can't understand why they've blocked any natural light with floor-to-ceiling shelves."

Ray Booth added: "Need a Home Bargains, much better and cheaper."
