STOURPORT residents have praised a "wonderful tribute" to fallen soldiers to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The town council has unveiled a spitfire decorated with flowers in the town gardens by the war memorial off Mitton Street.

The tribute has been created by council gardeners ahead of the D-Day commemorations on Thursday (June 6).

Residents have taken to social media to share their appreciation of the floral tribute.

Amanda Hand Potter described the tribute as "absolutely amazing and beautiful."

Vel McMillan said it's "stunning" and "looks fantastic."

Glenys Bishop said: "What a wonderful tribute to the fallen. Thank you to the gardening team and Stourport Town Council."

Caroline Ledbury said: "Absolutely wonderful. Well done to all involved and thank you".

Ann Hook added: "This is a wonderful tribute to all who fought in World War II. Well done Stourport Council, and well done to the gardeners.
