A "HELLISHLY busy" road is set to close next week after a "possible sinkhole" was discovered.

Repair work is set to take place on Sutton Road in Kidderminster on Monday (June 10) for five days.

Wyre Forest District Councillor Leigh Whitehouse, who represents the Blakebrook and Habberley South ward, raised the issue with Worcestershire County Council Highways.

Councillor Whitehouse said it's "very likely" to be a sinkhole.

He said: "It's about six or seven inches deep.

"If one wheel happens to align in that hole they are going to know about it.

"It's not just going to be a case of filling it in. They are going to have to see what's in the ground hence the reason there's a full closure.

"It's going to be hellish on the school runs".

Councillor Whitehouse has warned residents that they can expect congestion and delays in surrounding roads whilst the repair work is complete.

A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: “We will be closing the road on Monday 10th June for 5 days to investigate and repair the void.”
