A cyclist has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a collision with a van in Kidderminster. 

West Mercia Police said they received a call at around 8.25pm yesterday evening (Thursday, June 6) with a report of a collision on Coningsby Drive. 

Officers arrived at the scene to find a bicycle and a van were involved. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service also sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer, the WMAS Critical Care Car, a BASICS emergency doctor and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene. 

The cyclist, a man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by air ambulance for further treatment after he sustained serious injuries that are believed to be life-threatening.

The ambulance service also confirmed that no other patients required treatment last night. 

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call at around 8.25pm yesterday evening (June 6) with a report of a collision on Coningsby Drive in Kidderminster.

"Officers arrived at the incident to find a bicycle and van involved.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries."

West Mercia Police also put a road closure in place whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and asked drivers to avoid the area. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 8.09pm to a collision involving a van and a cyclist on Coningsby Drive in Kidderminster.

"Upon arrival, we found a man, who was the cyclist, who was assessed and had life-threatening injuries.

"Ambulance staff administered advanced trauma care to him at the scene and he was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by air ambulance for further treatment.

"No further patients required treatment."
