A road in Kidderminster is set to be closed next month for a new water main to be installed.

Worcestershire County Council has notified residents that Connaught Avenue will be temporarily closed from 9.30am on Monday, July 15.

According to the county council website, there is a valid permit in place until 4pm on Wednesday, July 17 as Severn Trent undertakes work to install a new water main.

Connaught Avenue will be closed from its junction with Sutton Park Road.

There will be access for residents on the street and the footpath will remain open throughout the duration of the work.

In the public notice, a spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: "There is a proposed order to close part of U12100 Connaught Avenue from its junction with B4549 Sutton Park Road for a distance of 70 metres in a northerly direction.

"The reason is for a new water main by Severn Trent."

The county council has advised residents to expect delays in the area and to plan ahead of any journeys.

There is a diversion route in place for drivers which will run along the B4549 Sutton Park Road, A451 Stourport Road, U12101 Woodward Road, U12100 Connaught Avenue and vice versa.
