Severn Valley Railway has announced the 'Lady of Legend' as its first Autumn Steam Gala guest.
The GWR 2999 ‘Lady of Legend’ is set to make an extended visit to the SVR, featuring as a star attraction at the Autumn Steam Gala from Thursday 19 to Sunday, September 22.
The Saint class locomotive, which is the only functioning model of its class in existence, first turned heads with its debut at the SVR’s 2021 Spring Steam Up, following its restoration.

SVR's managing director, Jonathan ‘Gus’ Dunster, said: "It's wonderful to be welcoming back this popular visitor.
"We are very grateful to Great Western Preservation Limited and Didcot Railway Centre for allowing us to have the ever-popular Lady of Legend back, and we're particularly pleased that this extended visit will allow so many visitors the chance to see and travel behind this unique locomotive."
The parts of the locomotive, dubbed the '78th Saint', were sourced from the 4942 ‘Maindy Hall’, a class that was developed from the original Saint design, with the restoration taking place at Didcot Railway Centre.
The 'Lady of Legend' is expected to arrive at the SVR by mid-month, and will participate in summer services and the Step Back to the 1940s events prior to the gala in autumn.
