A group in Stourport have shared their gratitude to local businesses who have donated materials and "worked tirelessly" to help restore their village hall.

Following the news that Wilden Village Hall had been forced to close due to needing urgent repairs, the committee are delighted to announce that progress has been made on the site.

The floor has now been fully restored thanks to Pete Mugridge of Fix or Fit with him and his team working tirelessly to undertake the work needed to put the hall back in use.

This includes securing materials and taking no financial reward for the work carried out.

The committee have also thanked KMJ Windows and Doors for supplying the windows, J and J Carpentry for supplying timbers for the floor, Kidderminster Rubbish Removals for taking away all the rubbish free of charge, and Trueline for supplying the circulation system to keep the new floor in the best condition.

The group also had a generous donation from Davro Steel Limited.

A spokesperson for the committee said: "A sincere thank you to all who have worked on our hall and made these renovations possible.

"However, there is still further work, and the funds are low. The village hall has been in desperate need of modernising for several years to bring it back to its original glory.

"We as a committee are overwhelmed by the support we have received so far, but we are desperately trying to raise funds for the next wave of work needed.

"Again, we are very lucky to have Pete and his team on board as this work would not be feasible without the support and backing they have given us."

As well as support from local businesses, dog trainers Karen Graham and Sam Ross organised a sponsored training session with their clients and dogs that raised more than £700.

There is also a collctiv fundraising page that currently stands at £680, which has been generously donated by people in the community.

The hall still needs the floor surface, a new roof and a modern heating system so the group are asking local businesses if they can donate supplies or if anyone can offer time or money to help with the refurbishment.

The committee added: "If any local businesses can donate supplies or anyone can offer time or money please get in touch with us.

"The hall is home to several community groups and their services have had to stop.

"We are desperate to resume the groups and classes with a view to expanding what we offer the community. This will only be possible with continued support, donations and help from the wider community."
