ONE lucky seller could be in for making a huge profit after listing this rare King Charles III 50p on an online marketplace.
The new 50ps, bearing King Charles's official coin portrait and marking his memorial coronation in 2022, has been labelled by its seller as a 'rare' find.
The seller has listed the coin on eBay for £200 - 400x its initial face value.
The coin is still yet to be bought but it is estimated that it could sell for this amount.
The coin pays homage to the death of Queen Elizabeth II by using a design that originally appeared on the 1953 Coronation Crown.
Anne Jessopp, Chief Executive Officer of The Royal Mint, said: “The Royal Mint has been trusted to make coins bearing the Monarch’s effigy for over 1,100 years and we are proud to continue this tradition into the reign of King Charles III.
"Although technology has progressed, we continue to honour British craftsmanship passed down through the centuries. Our team of skilled modellers, tool makers and engravers will ensure that The King’s effigy will be faithfully replicated onto millions of coins.
“Her Late Majesty ruled with heart and devotion for seventy years, and this memorial collection commemorates her remarkable legacy as Britain’s longest-serving monarch.
"To ensure everyone can hold a piece of history in their hand, the 50p will also enter circulation in the UK.”
The seller had described the coin as a "rare find for any serious coin collector".
They added: "The coin was manufactured in the United Kingdom, specifically in Great Britain, and belongs to the Decimal Coinage category with a time period of c.1971-Now.
"This special item has not been modified in any way and is in excellent condition for its age.
"Its rarity makes it a must-have for any collector or enthusiast of British coins.
"Don't miss out on the opportunity to add this treasure to your collection."
