A FAMILY has shared photos showing the extent of the damage to their home after a fire broke out in Kidderminster.

The blaze started in a caravan before spreading to homes on the corner of Eddy Road and Queen Street on Sunday, June 9.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that four homes were affected by the fire and that no one was injured.

Janet and Brian Alexander, who occupy a house on Queen Street, said the inside of their home was "severely damaged."

The Alexander family, who lived at the address for 33 years, shared a post on Facebook thanking the emergency services for their efforts.

They said: "Our house looks as if not much damage was done but it was severely damaged inside as well as the roof and garden".

They said it's going to take six to 12 months to "put it right."

They added: "We as a family would like to thank all firefighters and police who risked their lives to keep us all safe and made sure no one was hurt.

"Also family and friends for their continued support".

Nearby homes were evacuated on the night and residents were asked to shut their windows and doors. Eddy Road and a part of Queen Street was cordoned off by police.

In an update earlier this week, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said they are still trying to find the cause of the blaze.

A GoFundMe page was set up for one of the families affected by the fire to "help them get back on their feet" which managed to raise more than £1,000 in donations.
